• The trailer for Martin Scorsese’s Rolling Stones documentary Shine a Light has debuted online, though the movie’s release was pushed back to next spring. Light follows the Stones as they prepare for and play an intimate gig at New York’s Beacon Theater in 2006, and features performances by Jack White, Buddy Guy and Christina Aguilera.

• During a recent interview with MTV News, R. Kelly touring partner Keyshia Cole revealed the pair are planning an outing slated to begin in October — even though Kelly’s child pornography trial is scheduled to begin in the middle of September. The trial’s projected length of four weeks does not account for delays in proceedings (like jury deliberations), meaning the tour could be pushed back if something unforeseen happens. No dates have been announced yet.

• A leaked internal Ticketmaster memo reveals the company does not plan to renew its partnership with Live Nation after its current agreement expires at the end of 2008, meaning you’ll be buying your tickets (and paying those fees) from another vendor, or Live Nation themselves.

• Rhino Records’ takeover of the Grateful Dead’s official Web site has led to outrage among avid live-show collectors after the label installed and then removed weekly free downloads of live Dead shows. The feature was replaced by a stream-only option that many Deadheads complained about not working.

• Your “Chocolate Rain” experience may now involve advertisements: YouTube has unveiled the basics of its ad platform, which will position semi-transparent ad “overlays” at the bottom of video screens for ten seconds, after which the images will go away if the viewer does not opt to see more. If the option to view ads is selected, a viewer will be taken to a new site or a new video player with more ad content.
